[marketing-python] growing the base

Been reading some stuff lately that seems on target.
Seems like we've talked a lot about growing the
number of people using Python, and it seems we
always come back to "why might people who are not
programming now want to program, and can that
language be Python"? And yes, for some, it could.
But this is not the space the other languages are in
any longer. It's recognized that there's a lot of
need to "program" - essentially build little custom
apps, whether that's an email filter, financial
calculation, or whatever. The question they're
asking is how can users be enabled to do this,
without actually writing a program, or in fact
without knowing anything about the programming
language they will be creating in.
If Python is so easy for humans to program in,
shouldn't it also be an easy language for
programs to program in (i.e., assorted script
builder thingys)? Is attention being paid to
this aspect of the equation? I can certainly
assure that it's being paid attention to for
Java, C#, and PHP to name a few.
Just musing, but thoughts welcome.
